Journey Tracker is a website where registered users can log their holidays to different countries around the world, rate them, review them and submit pictures for their friends and family to see. But that's only one function the website has. The other is that visitors to the site can easily use this information to decide where to go on holiday, what to see and do in particular countries and what to expect. All this data can produce fun and useful statistics including ranking the countries in order of popularity. The effect is that the site gets better every time a visit is logged. It may be useless on its launch date, but a year later it would hopefully have enough visits logged to be quite an interesting and reliable source.

The site is very quick and easy to navigate and has been described by many as a fun experience they would recommend to their friends.

Features

  • Show off your 'life journey' by logging your holidays to different countries around the world
  • Review the visit in as many words as you wish to help others plan their holiday
  • Upload a photograph of your trip
  • Rate the holiday out of 5 to contribute to the country's overall ranking
  • Add your friends to your 'friends list' to easily keep track of their holidays
  • See what others have said about their favourite (and worst) countries to help plan your holiday
  • Take advantage of the country ranking statistics to make sure you're going somewhere with good reviews
  • Link your friends' holidays to yours if you all went on the same trip
  • Comment on other people’s experiences or use the commenting feature to reminisce with your friends

Important Notice

This website was designed as a university project in 2006. While the site still works, it is no longer active and has been moved around servers a number of times since. It is now hosted at tomturton.com and is primarily used as an example of web and database design as part of my portfolio.
