Business School website

Introduction
Oxford Brookes University Business School is one of the largest and most successful Schools of the university. I was fortunate enough to spend my placement year there as their website developer. My biggest job was to completely redesign and build a new website for the School, which was no small task. The result was 'launched' on 13 March 2007.
Features
- huge site designed for prospective undergraduate and postgradute students, researchers, School alumni and businesses.
- dynamic news and event information
- staff profiles with individual publications and location and contact details
- much easier navigation than its predecessor
- utilises the School's new sub-brand and design style to mirror the brochures
My main aim was to make the new website more modern than the site the School was using when I arrived. This wasn't hard to do as there was hardly any interation with external databases and the layout design looked a decade old.

Finished my placement
2nd July 2007
After one year of working solid for eight hours a day and being paid peanuts, I've finally finished my placement year in Oxford!
I had a great time and learnt a lot, although mostly about Donny Osmond unfortunately. Met a lot of great people (and some pretty nasty characters too) and made a few more friends (and enemies).
But for now, I'm just releaved to be back home in Bristolshire and am looking forward to my well-deserved holiday before going back to university.
Watch this space for info on some of the projects I undertook during my placement.

Business School website launched
13th March 2007
Press Release from Oxford Brookes University for their new Business School website:
An impressive new website aimed at the business community and potential business students was launched today.
The website, www.business.brookes.ac.uk, was designed and produced in house by a student on placement, is a comprehensive resource which is easily accessible to a wide-ranging audience.
Tom Turton, the student who built the site, said: "I have been very lucky to have been given this opportunity. It is a huge project and has given me a mountain of experience, which I will use after I graduate. The website is much cleaner than its predecessor, with easier navigation, better use of web technologies and more up-to-date information."
The school currently receives more than 12,000 visitors to its website each year.
Elly Sample, Director of Marketing and Communications commented: "Applicants can hear from other students what it is like to study at Brookes. Business Managers can find a range of bespoke training and consultancy services. This website should be a first point of call for anyone in business."
The site provides clear and helpful information on the range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by Oxford Brookes University Business School.
The website will be regularly updated with the latest developments, news and interactive features from the School, so that visitors to the site can easily access specific information or alternatively gain a general understanding of what the school offers.
