Elephant Kiosks

After being unemployed for a whole two weeks I ve managed to get a web developer job at a Cambridge-based company called Elephant Kiosks, who make information kiosks primarily for public sector organisations.

The kiosks work by accessing websites, so it will be my job to make these sites and advise the company on web technologies to improve the service further.

The job was originally meant to be part-time, but after my interview I was offered a full-time position, which I m very grateful for.

Thanks to Richard for getting me an interview and helping to persuade the company to give me a full-time job!

Cambridge

At the end of last month I quit my job, packed my bags and moved to Cambridge to start a new life.

I ve been here for two weeks now and am searching for a job as a Web Developer and/or New Media content producer. In the meantime I am creating a new website (nearly finished), developing my skills, coming up with a few business ideas and keeping the house clean and tidy for my fiancée when she comes home!

So, if you know of any jobs I might be interested in, please contact me!

New website

Regrettably I haven't posted any news on this site now since I finished my degree (I got a 'First' by the way!)

I am currently working for <a href="http://www.business.brookes.ac.uk/" target="_blank">Oxford Brookes University Business School</a> - they obviously liked the work I did for them in my placement year. It's been great working with them again, but I'll be moving to Cambridge soon, so I'm looking for jobs there right now.

Also, I'm creating the next <!--<a href="http://new.tomturton.com/" target="_blank">-->new version of my website<!--</a>-->, which I'm hoping to launch fairly soon. The new site should be a lot simpler than this one, focusing on Projects and Articles with lots of lovely AJAX elements! I'm scrapping Just for Fun, because while it was very interesting, it was only just for fun!

Finishing touches

One day left, and I'm just finishing the final touches to the program. This includes toying with random factors, making the interface look a bit nicer and easier to use and labelling all the tools correctly. I'm quite happy it hasn't been a big rush towards the finish.

Theme generation

I've decided to reintroduce the theme generation ideas that I had previously abandoned in favour of user input. I reckon it's probably better to show I can do this than leave it out for the sake of consistency. It didn't take me long to rewrite the javascript files to make them fit, and it works a lot better than before.
